By this time, almost every one knows that the foodstuffs we eat are more than just nutrition for our body, but many of these have therapeutic properties against a number of diseases. The regular intake of such medicinal foods not only prevents from diseases but also help to cure if we get ill due to any reason. They can ward off infection, relieve pain and reduce scarring. Most of these would already available in your kitchen and you might be a fan of them. All you have to do is to take them on regular basis with a little more attention towards their healing tendencies.

As far as skin is concerned, the most useful kitchen cabinet items are garlic, honey, apple cider vinegar, turmeric and rose water. Eggs, milk and yogurt are equally important and so is the lemon and lime juice. Cucumber, carrots, tomatoes are not just food but an important source for pampering your skin both internally as well as externally. Among the herbs the most important ones for skin treatments are probably aloe Vera and margosa tree, while others like chamomile, henna, and burdock have been used for hair care for thousands of years.


Cucumber; soothes inflamed, itchy skin, such as in eczema, while cucumber water makes an excellent cleansed and toner for oily skin.

Honey; has anti septic properties, smooth a little over infected skin. It is also an important ingredient of many natural skin and hair care recipes.

Turmeric; has been known for its anti inflammatory properties for a very long time and has enjoyed a peculiar place in ancient medicines. . Modern researchers have identified its healing tendencies and more studies are going on. Traditionally it is used in the management of burns, boils, melasma and eczema.

Beetroot and Cabbage juices; are good blood cleansers and helpful in cases of oily skin prone to acne. Drink half a glass of one of these juices once or twice a day for 10 days.

Garlic; is a potent collaborator in the fight against ill health. It has strong anti bacterial and anti-fungal properties, therefore it is still used as first line of defense in a number of skin diseases, like boils, warts, fungus nails and acne.

Apple Cider Vinegar is a natural treatment for a number of human diseases. Among the skin disorders, nail fungus, common warts, acne and skin tags are universally treated with ACV. People are getting more aware about the benefits of vinegar and its oral and topical use is increasing globally.

Aloe Vera is the most important herb in skin care. Its gel or fresh lump softens and nourishes dry skin and encourages skin regeneration after injury. It also helps prevent shaving rash; the crop of tiny pimples that appear after shaving.

TIPS FOR WHITENING SKIN mix 1tsp kasthuri turmeric powder with little lime juice and apply to face and keep for 15 minutes and then wash with warm water
