Home Remedies for Eczema
These traditional remedies have been used for centuries to prevent and treat eczema without any side effects and at very low cost.

Inspite of medical treatment there are a number of natural treatments for eczema, which have been used for long. There are a large number of natural herbs as well as common food items used for this purpose.
Indian Almond Leaves;
Indian almond leaves also called sweet almond leaves, Catappa Leaves, Java Almond Leaves and Ketapang Leaves, possess moisturizing and healing properties,
as well as anti inflammatory and anti bacterial characteristics.
For eczema cure a hand ful of almond leaves are grinded and mixed with water to make a paste. This is than applied multiple times on affected areas, it will prevent dryness and help to control active lesions.
Blueberry Leaves;
Most people are well aware with the anti oxidant properties of blue berries, however very few of us know about the health benefits of blue berry leaves. One of them is their role in eczema treatment. It is found thet these contain a substance called Chlorogenic Acid, that is a powerful anti microbial agent. When applied topically it helps to minimize itching and dryness. For the treatment of eczema, you can grind these leaves and make a paste to apply over the effected skin. This benefit of blue berry leaves have led different cosmetic companies to make blueberry creams and lotions that are available at good super stores.
Vaseline and Liquid Paraffin
Vaseline is something that works almost for every patient. What you need is to made a combination of these to in equal amounts and store in a bottle at some cool place. Apply it generousely and repeatedly over the itchy areas. This gives a soothing effect, relievs itching and cures dryness. If liquid paraffin is not available, vaseline can be used alone as well. (No specific brand is recommended.
Camphor and Sandalwood;Apply a mixture of 1 teaspoon camphor and 1 teaspoon sandalwood paste on the rashes.
Almond Oil;The key point for the prevention and cure of eczema is to keep moisturize liberally. Almond oil is an effective moisturizer for all skin types. As a home remedy for eczema it can be applied either alone or mixed with castor oil to enhance the effects. This will hydrate the skin and prevent dryness.
Vitamin E OR Coconut Oil;Other good ways to moisturize skin are Vitamin E oil or coconut oil. These can be mixed together and spread generousely over dry lesions to control itching and dryness. These oils can also be used solely to combat eczema. Beside thjis you can easily get Vitamin E creams in the market, that are easier to apply. Oral intake of these oils is also beneficial.
Oatmeal Recipes; Oatmeal is another effective and time tested remedy for eczema that is used world wide. Again there are multiple ways to use oatmeal for this purpose.
- The most popular remedy is oatmeal bath. Just add some oatmeal to bath water and take bath atleast once a day. If only parts of body are effected, you can soak them in oatmeal water for ten minutes daily. (Twice a day application is definetely more effective.)
- Just add some oatmeal to honey and apply twice a day.
- Olive oil is another way to apply oatmeaql. Just add some to the oil and apply generousely.
- Use a soap containing oatmeal for routine washings.
Turmeric;Turmeric, a well known anti inflammatory spice used in the treatment of boils, burns, insect bites, melasma and many other conditions, is a renowned natural remedy for eczema. It can be used in multiple ways for the treatment of dermatitis.
- Can be applied topically over eczematous patches in the form of a paste.
- It can be mixed with milk and taken orally. This is really effective natural treatment for eczema.
- Turmeric is mixed with honey to form a paste that is applied on the effective areas multiple times a day.
